Welcome!

Hey everyone! Welcome to Sober Stories From A College Girl! This is my very first blogging experience and, although I'm a little nervous, I'm pretty confident that I can get the hang of it. So, I thought that I would explain a little bit about why I created blog in the first place. Here it goes:

College is never what you expect to see. First of all, it is nothing like the movies portray it. Given, there are the jocks, and the nerds, but all in all, everyone is pretty friendly and the cliques that you are trying to escape from in high school pretty much disappear in college. Second, the amount of free time they give characters in movies are highly unrealistic. Unless if you're looking to stay in college for seven years, you do have work. However, depending on how you block out your schedule, you may have more free time than others, but there is usually something that you should be doing. Third and most importantly, if you are like me and do not drink at college, you will not be an outcast. I repeat, you will not be an outcast. Although people like me are far and few next to the raging alcoholics that call themselves college students, most people respect your decisions and don't put too much pressure on you. My advice is, find your group of friends and just be yourself. Most college students drink to get out of their shell, or because their friends do it, or because they love the feeling of not remembering any of their stupid decisions the next morning, but drinking isn't for everyone and it isn't everything. There are times when I come back with the craziest stories, never once taking a sip of alcohol. If you drink, or if you would like to try it, I respect that, but I don't see the reasoning for getting black-out drunk like most people. Me, I'm going to college to enjoy myself and get a good education.

Back on why I wrote this blog... so being a non-drinker, you can imagine the kind of stories I come back with at night, the questions I get from drinkers, and the all around free time I have. Therefore, I made this blog to give everyone a sober person's perspective on college and life in general. However, this blog is for all of you just as much as it is for me, so feel free to ask me questions, give me topics to talk about, feedback, anything. So again, welcome!
